Hello there! I’m Nate and I make pots.
I first began working with clay as a college student in the Shenandoah Valley. Years later, I returned to pottery by way of District Clay Center in Washington, D.C. Today, I make pots in Maine both as a student at Portland Pottery and in my home studio. I draw inspiration from nature, history and the vast diversity of pottery I’ve been privileged to see and learn about over the years living and working around the world.
Why pots? I believe in the power of food and pottery to build community and be a positive force in the world. My ceramics are individual pieces, sometimes in concert with each other in sets. My goal is always to imbue my pots with thoughtful artistic choices that blend beauty with practicality.
My style has evolved over the years as I have played with many different styles and clay bodies, learning new techniques to replace ones that no longer suit me. I’m excited for you to follow along on my clay journey as I continue to evolve and share my work here.
I love working with people to make something they have always wanted to see in clay. If you have an idea or want to discuss a project, send me a message! If you click on something you like and it says ‘SOLD’ but you’d like to purchase one like it, send me a message and I’ll make one for you. Thank you for joining me on my clay journey! Your support means the world, and I appreciate it deeply.
